The Little Community With A Future
In The Heart Of The Cascades
Chemult is a small, friendly community located in scenic Central Oregon, on Highway 97N, just 30 miles from the north entrance to Crater Lake National Park. We find ourselves fortunate to live in such a magnificent outdoor recreation area. Chemult is a convenient place to stay as you enjoy the variety of activities available year round. Amtrak stops here twice daily (headed north in the morning and south in the evening) and is a convenient and scenic way to travel to and from Chemult.
The summers bring us an abundance of sunshine in which to enjoy the wide variety of outdoor recreational opportunities such as hiking, biking, bird watching, camping, boating, fishing, hunting, & exploring the Volcanic Legacy lands which surround us. Our closest campground, Digit Point, is located on beautiful Miller Lake just 12 miles west of Chemult. For more information on Digit Point Campground go to http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/fremont-winema/recreation/ohv/recarea/?recid=59715&actid=82
Summer also brings Chemult Mountain Days. This is a family-friendly summer festival held each July. The event features a carnival, vendors, food, children's activities, and more! A couple highlights of the festival are the pie eating contest and the live music and dancing on Friday and Saturday nights. The 2014 Chemult Mountain Days will be held July 11-13. Click on the Chemult Mountain Days page on our side bar to the right. We will be adding more updates soon. You can also check our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ChemultMountainDays for updates.
The winters bring lots of snow to play in. Snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and dog sledding can’t be beat on our freshly groomed trails which meander through the forests to Crater Lake National Park, Crescent-O’Dell Lakes, Diamond Lake, and our very own Miller Lake. For more information on the 2015 Chemult dog sled races check out www.sleddogchemult.org. Check out our Recreational Activities page for links to snowmobiling information.
